Roland A. Simmons
Roland Simmons began playing guitar at the age of 15. He comes from a very musical family. His grandmother played piano and sang, his mother sang in church choir, and his father played bass guitar professionally touring with The O’Jays and playing for the likes of Aretha Franklin among many others. As a child Roland took piano lessons but is mostly a self taught multi-instrumentalist who has toured, recorded and played with many local Orlando bands including Pendulum Swing, Big Shirley, One Drop, Kow, The Brownote, Umoja, The Legendary JC’s, Paddington Ambush, Katie Burkess and The Ruby Rays, Kevin Maines Band, Bithlo Rising, The Gerry Williams Band, My Man Mohammed and many others. His band One Drop recorded the movie soundtrack for an independent film called Push.
